The workshop fee covers the cost of the workshop. There will be out-of-pocket expenses for accommodations and meals. You should be prepared to cover these expenses up front.
You do not have to bring a computer. However, if you want to bring a notebook computer, you can take advantage of MSU's high-speed network and Internet access. Owen Hall is wired, as is most of campus. Wireless is being implemented in various locations across campus.
You have a variety of options, as outlined in the Accommodations section.
No. We recommend bringing your own fan, or buying one when you get to MSU.
Lansing Capital City airport (LAN) is the nearest airport. The taxi ride will cost about $20 from the airport to MSU's campus. Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) is about 90 minutes away. You can rent a car there, or arrange for shuttle service (http://www.michiganflyer.com). Flint Bishop International (FNT) and Kent County International (GRR) are both about an hour away from East Lansing.
No. However, you can get State Board Continuing Education Units (SB-CEUs) from the State of Michigan, which may count toward your teacher certification. CLEAR offers these SB-CEUs free of charge to the workshop participants.
While we understand that travel arrangements sometimes force participants to miss part of the workshop, you should realize that arriving late or leaving early is not only disruptive to the workshop, but will also mean that you will not get the whole benefit of the workshop. Additionally, missing a portion of the workshop may result in losing the SB-CEUs.
