Continuing Education Units

Michigan State University offers State Board Continuing Education Units (SB-CEUs) for the workshops. These units are approved in-service workshop, professional credits which are used for state administrator / teacher professional certificate renewal. CLEAR offers these SB-CEUs free of charge.

Participants wishing to receive SB-CEU credits will be required to supply their social security numbers in order for CLEAR to process their credits. Credits will be applied for within 30 days of the end of each workshop; participants can expect to receive their certificate and the SB-CEU number within six weeks of the end of the workshop.

Attention Michigan teachers: The SB-CEUs offered for CLEAR's workshops are not the same as college credit, but they can be used toward your certificate renewal.  All of our workshops this summer are 15 contact hours, so they are each worth 1.5 SB-CEUs.  You need a total of 18 SB-CEUs (or 6 semester credit hours) over a five-year period for your renewal.  SB-CEUs and college credits can be used in combination for your renewal.  Three SB-CEUs count the same as one college credit.   For example, 2 CLEAR workshops this summer would earn you 3.0 SB-CEUs, which equals 1 semester hour credit equivalent for your renewal.  If you took 4 workshops, you'd have 6 SB-CEUs = 2 semester hour credits.
